Abstract
The history of the public service railways in the Dominican Republic is linked to the construction projects of a State and a national economy and their integration into the world market. These objectives met with socio-political, economic and geographic conditions that hindered their materialization and that the aforementioned means of transportation did not allow to overcome, because it reproduced them in their construction and development. Between 1990 and 1992, a project was carried out at the Fundación de los Ferrocarriles Españoles (RENFE), Los Ferrocarriles Latinamericanos, Ayer, Hoy y Mañana (1830-1995), within the framework of a broader one, called Libertadores, whose purpose was to make a state of the matter on the subject, incorporating new sources, mainly statistics, into a computer database. This article presents the updated results for the Dominican case, which had not been published
