Résumé

Acute stroke is a disease with a time-dependent prognosis and thus, diagnostic and treatment protocols are designed to guarantee that patients with acute stroke have rapid, safe access to specific care. The stroke code, early care by expert neurologists, admission to stroke units, and the early use of reperfusion treatments have been demonstrated to considerably reduce the mortality and sequelae of acute stroke patients. The chain of care must be adequately protocolized to ensure accessibility and equity in the treatment of this disease. The etiological study and prevention of complications are also fundamental for personalizing hospital care and secondary prevention for these patients.
