Zusammenfassung

Objective: knowing perceptions, experience and coping strategies of ICU management nurses facing the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: qualitative research through semi-structured in-depth interviews. Results: as a consequence of managing the pandemic, managament nurses express stress and anguish, closely related to the uncertainty generated. These professionals have faced the situation with emotional involvement and a fast pace of life that have resulted in physical and emotional exhaustion, whose manifestations are encompassed in the Burnout Syndrome. The most used coping strategies have been family support and comradeship, optimism and resilience. Conclusions: because of limited evidence available on these professionals, it would be interesting to carry out more researches focused on them to guarantee their well-being, which could have repercussions on the well-being of the nurses in their care.
