Resumo

This article explores the relatively new literary phenomenon of “solarpunk” in ecocritical terms, analyzing its premises and the way in which these subvert hegemonic approaches to environmentalism, technology and social change from degrowth positions. Firstly, the text briefly delves into the history of this science fiction genre, in which it is conceptually and literarily contextualized, commenting on the foundations that guide it in the anglophone field (the one that has been more developed). After this, the article aims to expose the most relevant aspects of contemporary debates on technophilia and technophobia in order to later analyze two examples of short stories using contemporary techno- and eco-optimistic philosophical theory.
