Abstract

It seems obviopus that the environmental situation in Europe and the rest of the world is precarious. The failure of the rule of law to respond to attacks is one of the reasons for the rapid decline of ecosystems. The purely administrative response, which relied primarily on fines, has proven completely ineffective. The new European Green Deal is based on a number of effective measures while also seeking a number of stricter protective measures. We agree with the four European environmental networks (EUFJE; IMPEL; ENPE and EnviCrimeNet) that the new regulation is absolutely necessary, as the old Directive 2008/99/EC has proven to be ineffective and insufficient.
