Abstract

Abandoned rural Spain comprises a part of the national territory that is characterized by regressive socioeconomic and demographic dynamics, with insufficient infrastructure, especially assistance services, forcing young and old to leave their places of origin. Technological advances, the extension of teleworking or the energy transition, with the installation of renewable energy plants, have regained hope for its reactivation, but for this it is necessary to make changes in economic policy, in governance and in the behavior of economic agents. It is necessary to implement a set of actions that help to revitalize the economy and society of these areas, among others, to improve digitization and the provision of medical, educational or assistance services, for which it is imperative to attract specialized workers to the centers that provide these services improving working conditions.
