Résumé

The purpose of this chapter is to present a simple diagnosis or assessment of some of the most important pronouncements of the European Court of Human Rights (and the EU Court of Justice) on different external manifestations of the right to freedom of religion: clothing and symbolism, food and ritual sacrifice, and commemoration of public holidays. Their analysis shows that both courts are taking sometimes opposing positions on the protection of the religious sphere.
