Resumen
In 1939, after the establishment of the Franco's dictatorship, the mixed, secular and liberal education promoted by the Second Republic was replaced by a religious, conservative and sex-segregated education. With the purges of teachers, education became a field through which later generations were educated under the principles of National Catholicism promoted by the Falange and the Catholic Church. Although literary creation also suffered strict repressive measures through book censorship, represented these changes and the losses it envolved through the works by narrators who, between the lines, preserved the memory of republican education and criticised the alienating practices of the new hegemonic educational models. In this thesis, we study how ideological conflicts are represented in a corpus of novels written during and after Francoism . These conflicts are expressed through educational practices which lie under issues such as the conception of the person and their freedom, the relationship between genders in school, equal opportunities between classes, body appropiation, the democratisation of knowledge and sexual morals. We investigate the decisions taken by the main characters of these novels and their relationship with educational practice in different contexts, with the aim of studying the extent to which the project of republican pedagogy, especially that of the Institución Libre de Enseñanza, was kept alive. All this will ultimately allow us to offer an assessment of the historical and aesthetic value of the corpus studied.
