With a career spanning over three decades, his body of work has consistent-ly reflected the intricacies of life, culture, and society in Africa. This scholarly article delves into the life and legacy of Idrissa Ouedraogo, shedding light on his contributions to the world of cine-ma and his enduring influence on African storytelling. Focusing on the controversy that emerged following the release of Yaaba, we will explore various facets of his work, including his emphasis on entertainment as opposed to politically charged cinema, his contribution to the diversity of African filmmaking, and his distinctive style and impact on the art of cinematography
