Abstract

One of the tasks that must be performed by every teacher in his practice is to encourage students in participating in assessment processes by reflecting on their own learning as a group. Promoting students to evaluate their own learning involves- working in peer assessment and self-assessment activities. In this paper we show an experience developed in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alcalá, in which were involved 119 under graduate students in the first year of the Degree on Teaching (Infant School Teacher). Two instruments were constructed: peer assessment and self-assessment questionnaires. Our findings point up that students value positively the process and consider that it serves to promote the acquisition of skills related to effective time management, responsibility and negotiation skills, but they also be conscious of the difficulties of this kind of participation.
