Abstract

Infection by Bacillus anthracis causes anthrax. Owing to the disease’s lethality, this germ has been used as a biological weapon along History. All this, in addition to an increasing bioterrorism threat within the past few decades, has made population’s protection from B. anthracis and its toxin a relevant task for antiterrorism plans. In this review article, we are going to try to tackle the use of B. anthracis as a biological weapon from a historical perspective and to add some future approaches to anthrax’s prevention and treatment.
