Resumen

Pensamiento Español was a journal promoted by a group of Spaniards in Buenos Aires. Its editorial policy shows the aspiration to give continuity to the democratic, progressive and bourgeois liberal thought of Institutionalism. It also aimed to contribute to the unity of the exiles around a plural and democratic definition of Spain from which to oppose the essentialist and Palabras clave idealist nationalism of the ideologies that supported Franco’s regime. That project faced up to various antagonists and also to its own limitations and contradictions, which led to its failure.
