Resum

The inclusion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Private International Law is essential to effectively address global challenges. Although the SDGs do not explicitly mention Private Law, their implicit interaction is evident. For instance, the SDGs touch upon issues like personal status, family relations, and trade, all of which have implications in the realm of Private Law. The SDGs also promote contractual freedom and limit unfair norms and acts, directly impacting contract and commercial law. Furthermore, issues such as corporate responsibility and environmental protection are intrinsically linked to Private Law. To integrate the SDGs into Private International Law, a reevaluation of its traditionally neutral and commercial focus is needed. This involves considering how Private Law can be an effective tool in promoting sustainability and protecting human rights in cross-border contexts. Incorporating the SDGs into legal education is also crucial in preparing future legal professionals to address these challenges in a more holistic and responsible manner.
