Carrillo Hermosilla

I am a Full Professor at the Department of Economics and Business at the University of Alcalá, where I hold four recognized research periods and serve as founder and coordinator of INNOGREEN Research (Eco-innovation & Circular Economy Group). I am also a research fellow at the Institute for Economic and Social Analysis (IAES) and the Banco Santander Chair of Corporate Social Responsibility, a member of the Innovation Council of the Insight Foresight Institute (IFI), and a fellow of the Centre for European Studies Jean Monnet at IE University. Previously, I was Head of the Department of Economics at IE Business School (2008–2012), where I co-founded, with Prof. Gregory C. Unruh, the pioneering Center for Eco-Intelligent Management under the presidency of William McDonough, co-creator of the Cradle to Cradle design. My research focuses on sustainable technological change and the policies and management models that address environmental challenges through innovation. I have contributed to defining the conceptual foundations of eco-innovation through works such as Eco-Innovation: When Sustainability and Competitiveness Shake Hands (Palgrave Macmillan, 2009) and Diversity of Eco-Innovations (Journal of Cleaner Production, 2010). Recent bibliometric studies (e.g. Gregán et al., 2025; Paipa-Sanabria et al., 2024; López-Pérez et al., 2023)* identify me among the most influential authors in the field. I regularly collaborate with the media and lecture on corporate social responsibility, environmental management, and innovation.
