Sonia Pérez Díaz is Full Professor of the Department of Physic and Mathematics of the University of Alcalá, in the area of Applied Mathematics (https://sperez.web.uah.es/). She specializes in several areas of mathematics, including algebraic geometry and computational algebraic geometry. Sonia Pérez Díaz is an active researcher and has contributed significantly to the fields of algebraic geometry and computational algebraic geometry. She leads several projects and a research group at the University of Alcalá focused on algebraic geometry and its applications to other fields of mathematics and science. S. Pérez-Díaz has published over 70 research papers in prestigious journals, and her work has been cited by many other mathematicians in their research. It should be remarked she is one of the authors of the prestigious book Rational Algebraic Curves: A Computer Algebra Approach (2007) published by Springer Verlag. One of her major contributions is her work on computing the singularities of algebraic varieties, which has important applications in many areas of science and engineering. She has also made significant contributions to the study and analysis of symbolic, numeric and approximate algorithms as well as the applications to the theory of curves and surfaces. S. Pérez Díaz has also been recognized with several awards and honors, including the Award for International Scientific Cooperation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2021. Furthermore S. Pérez Díaz is an active participant in international conferences and workshops. She has given talks and presented her research at many prestigious venues, including the International Congress of Mathematicians, the European Congress of Mathematics, and the American Mathematical Society. She has also organized several workshops and conferences, including the Workshop on Computational Algebraic Geometry and Singularities and the International Conference on Resolution of Singularities and its Applications. As a professor at the University of Alcalá, S. Pérez Díaz is involved in teaching and mentoring students, as well as conducting research in her areas of expertise. She is also involved in various academic and research activities both within and outside of the university, including serving as a member of several academic committees and editorial boards of mathematical journals. S. Pérez Díaz has also held several academic administrative positions such as Vice-Dean of the polytechnic school and is very involved in the dissemination and transfer of mathematical applications.
