Doctor by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis La gramática de las cláusulas absolutas de predicación en español 2006. Supervised by Dr. Violeta Demonte Barreto.

Isabel Pérez-Jiménez is assistant professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts of the University of Alcalá (Madrid, Spain) and coordinator of the research group 'Lingüística teórica'. Her research interests focus on the syntax of Romance languages -specifically Spanish- and its variation from a formal-generative point of view, and, more broadly, on the theory of interfaces (lexicon-syntax; syntax-semantics-pragmatics). He has three ‘sexenios de investigación’ with publications on absolute clauses, predication, exceptive clauses, partitive structures, agreement and coordination; recently he has focused on the study of (pseudo)copular sentences in Spanish and on the analysis of dialectal variation in this field, as well as on the syntactic properties of inclusive language. She has worked on the ‘Proyecto de generación de materiales para la Nueva Gramática de la Lengua Española (RAE) and has been coordinator of the 'Master in the teaching of Hispanic language and culture for primary and secondary school teachers'. She is currently academic secretary of the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts.
