María-Ángeles Martínez (BA, MSc, PhD) is Associate Professor at the Modern Languages Department of the University of Alcalá (Madrid). After graduating from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), she obtained a Master of Sciences in Teaching English at Aston University (Birmingham, UK), and a PhD in English Linguistics at the Complutense University of Madrid. Her research is in the field of cognitive literary linguistics, narrative discourse analysis, and cognitive narratology, and has been published in journals such as Language and Literature, Journal of Literary Semantics, Narrative, and Poetics Today, as well as in collective volumes. She is the author of the monograph Storyworld Possible Selves (De Gruyter, 2018), an application of cognitive linguistics to the study of narrative engagement and emotion, and has led the research project “Narratology, Linguistics and Cognition: Interdisciplinary Studies on Storyworld Possible Selves, Narrative Intersubjectivity, and Engagement” (NARRALINCOG) (Ref. PID2020 114255RB-I00), financed by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities. ORCID: 0000-0001-6473-1249
