Zusammenfassung

Despite the great advances in intellectual disability (I.D.) and the current knowledge on sexuality, the sexuality of people with intellectual disabilities re-mains controversial and generates many doubts for professionals and families. We will review the diversity, the components and processes development of the sexuality of people with I.D., highlighting the barriers they confront, to conclude indicating some family and educational supports to overcome them.
