Resumen

The concept of learning object has become the centre of a new paradigm for the design of on-line learning activities, which empha-sizes content and activity reuse through the use of metadata in well-known formats. This papers reviews the definition of the concept and aims at offering a conceptual framework to justify the new paradigm, de-limiting also its essential properties. Concretely, the concepts of reuse and reusability are analyzed in their diverse aspects
