Resumen
A warm-up routine before any physical activity is recommended. It is generally established that this routine must consist of several parts, one aerobic and one involving stretching, in addition to some exercises that are specific to the physical activity or sport that it is going to be performed. However, there is uncertainty regarding the adequate type of activity, intensity, duration, recovery time, and the physiological mechanisms which determine all these factors. A review has been carried out that tackles each one from the perspective of an intermittent anaerobic sport where power and reactive agility are determinant in performance. Based on the scientific evidence shown in this review, we provide guidelines for volleyball match warm-ups and a warm-up proposal which may be used by volleyball strength and conditioning coaches
