Abstract

The reusability of learning objects is one of the current priorities in the e-learning field. It is not very useful to have a learning object with a high level of quality, if it is only accessible for a few users of a certain platform or repository. The educational institutions need interoperability mechanisms, thus it is no sense to keep inaccessible content in a world increasingly interconnected that cries out for the institutional collaboration as mechanism to guarantee a quality education. Therefore, in order for a learning object is reusable, it must be acceded from both the most of e-learning platforms and its potential clients. Another characteristic to assure the reusability of a learning object is its development according to standards, packing and description metadata, so, it can be integrated within any e-learning platform compatibly with these standards. In this article, we present a system capable of assuring reusability making interoperable the systems that store the learning objects, so they can be located independently of their physical location and storage technology.
