Abstract

The M.O., P.S.D. and C.P.S.D. improved by an average of 2.99, 1.49 and 1.86 db., respectively (p < 0.001) after instillation of 10% phenylephrine in glaucoma patients on 2% pilocarpine therapy. The production of a standard correction factor for the visual field at a certain pupil size is difficult, however we have obtained linear regression equations (p< 0.001) that can help us, because the under miosis and after phenylephrine instillation M.O. are related by these one. These findings support the importance of careful pupillary diameter testing on automated visual field examinations in glaucoma patients. At our best knowledge this is first report corroborating and quantifying the effects of pharmacologically altered pupils on automated perimetry in glaucoma patients.
