Resumen

El infarto agudo de miocardio conlleva una importante morbimortalidad, tanto en países desarrollados como en vías de desarrollo, de ahí la necesidad de un rápido diagnóstico y manejo. Las complicaciones que pueden acompañar a los síndromes coronarios agudos se clasifican en cuatro grandes grupos: insuficiencia cardíaca y disfunción ventricular, taquiarritmias y bradiarritmias, complicaciones mecánicas y complicaciones pericárdicas. La revascularización urgente ha demostrado ser la principal medida para reducir el riesgo de aparición de dichas complicaciones.
