Resumo
Smoking visibility in the environment may affect smoking norms with implications for tobacco initiation, particularly among youths. Understanding how the signs of tobacco consumption, including smokers and cigarette butts, are distributed in the environment could greatly contribute in the design and implementation of new tobacco policies. In this study, our objective is to present a novel methodologic appro- ach to estimate the visual exposure to smokers and cigarette butts in public spaces using Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
