Abstract
This paper focuses on the behavior of vehicles as they pass through one of the most recurrent conflict points in a traffic network: intersections. Based on the example of a four-branch intersection, we will show the changes which occur during the vehicles trips by varying of characteristics such as speed or trajectory, or by the change in the management system of the intersection (priority signals or traffic lights). A proposal has been made to distribute the use of the intersection by controlling the arrival of vehicles at each of its input points. The results of the study show how the proposed system achieves a uniform distribution of the intersection among vehicles and it’s the solution that generates the shortest trip times.
