Abstract

Exercise has shown to exert beneficial effects in biomarkers associated with postmenopausal breast cancer risk. The Obesity and Exercise (OBEF) study aimed at evaluating the effects of two types of exercise on these biomarkers (i.e., body fat mass, insulin sensitivity, sex hormones and inflammation). A total of 39 sedentary postmenopausal women with overweight or obesity were recruited from ‘La Paz’ Hospital, and then randomized to an endurance (n=13), concurrent (n=13) or control group (n=13). This study will help to determine the most effective type of exercise in post-menopausal women as a non-pharmacological strategy to prevent breast cancer.
