Abstract

A new concept of muon telescope with applications in Space Weather is presented in this work. It is made up of a pair of large area organic scintillators with eight photomultipliers tubes (PMTs) gathering the light emerging by their lateral faces (100 x 5 cm). Different tests and Monte Carlo simulations have been carried out showing that pulses picked up by PMTs contain information about muons’ path. The pre cision and reliability of results depend on the number and placement of PMTs used. In order to determine the optimal configuration, several simulations and experimental tests have been carried out, whose preliminary results are discussed in this paper.
