Abstract

Climate change implies not only a rise in the average temperatures, but also increases in the frequency and intensity of extreme events such as spring frosts and summer heat strokes. Variety selection in crops is a key adaptation strategy of climate change. Grapevine is an ideal model species due to its great diversity, large distribution and its economic importance. Differences in tolerance to hot summers, spring frosts and heat stroke among Spanish grapevine cultivars were evaluated.
