Doctor by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid with the thesis Aportación al modelado y control óptimo adaptativo de tracción y dirección para el guiado de vehículos autónomos 1999. Supervised by Dr. Ricardo García López.

Felipe Espinosa received the M.S. degree (Polytechnics University of Madrid, Spain) and the Ph.D. degree (University of Alcala, Spain) in telecommunication, in 1992 and 1998 respectively. He became an Associate Professor in 2000 and Full Professor in 2016 in the Electronics Department with the University of Alcala, regularly involved in electronic control, intelligent control and intelligent transportation, subjects in Degree, Master and PhD studies. His research activity is focused on electronic control and network control systems applied to cooperative guidance of transport units, industrial automation, and smart cities. He is co-author of 5 international book chapters, specialized journal articles (40) and numerous contributions to international conferences. He has managed 18 research projects with public funding and 22 financed by companies. He has collaborated in the attainment of 9 patents, one of them with international extension. He has supervised 7 PhD thesis. He belongs to the editorial board of two international journals. He has been Head of the Cuadrelec Chair of Electronic Control, financed by the Cuadrelec S.L. company whose activity carries out in the railway context.
